Awesome Grounds

"Hmm."

submission: Awesome Grounds
date: August 11, 2008

Since my last critique towards another poor-quality flash ended up getting deleted, I won't waste any words on this one, since what I would say about this movie is worse than what I said about the other flash.

'Nuff said...before people continue to think my critiques are just low-blow insults.

lock-of-fearalready posted about most of the acheivements, but here's one he couldn't figure out.

roast hog: In the final area (the 'tower climb'), there will be a window showing earth and space. Wait in this room long enough, and you see something flying in space through that window, eventually crashing into the earth - at which point 'roast hog' will be awarded.

A more passive review, since my last was deleted. I did not appreciate the humor, and the homosexual references were offensive to me, as I am homosexual. Thank you very much.

"Too overpowered, but promising!"

date: April 3, 2008

Once I got fully powered up (only took until mission two), I basically just sat there and let my something-million projectiles murder everything. This only added to my boredom -- the rehashed bosses (color swaps does not equal good bosses) and the lack of excitement surrounding the bosses (we need some boss music!) were kind of a letdown too.

I gotta say it was pretty-looking, though the levels got boring by level 4 (since they're all 'whee, we're in space' sorta levels....needs more variety).

I still gave this 7/10 because I'm optimistic about the final version. ;3 Add the excitement in that this beta is lacking...and you've got yourself a game!

Project Inthri 3

"Inthri Marathon Complete! Now For My Opinion..."

submission: Project Inthri 3
date: April 2, 2008

I played through Project Inthri 1, 2, and 3 back-to-back, in a non-stop marathon, jumping into each one for the first time. I love the series, and I'd like to give my two cents on each...and a score for each too. ;)

Inthri 1 - Short but sweet...I found myself dying and restarting constantly. This would have been bad if the levels were too long, but I found their length to be quite appropriate for the difficulty. 8/10

Inthri 2 - I breezed through this one. The machine gun is unfairly effective on bosses, as well as decimating normal enemies. 9/10

Inthri 3 - It's obvious you put loads of effort into this one. I decided to be dangerous and I played the entire thing on Lunatic difficulty. I'm wondering though -- what changes between each difficulty setting? Well, in any case, this game is a real love-hate thing...Everything is so fun, but the bosses WILL NOT DIE...I suppose a marathon battle would be good with a pause button, but without one...I think my finger is cramped from holding down the left-click button. The final boss is EPIC...though I didn't understand why he turned into a beating heart-like thing at the end of it all. ...I've heard people complain about the Extra boss, Seven, but honestly none of her forms are all that difficult -- simple patterns is the reason why. Oh sure, plowing through all 11 of her forms takes some effort, but I only got hit once during the entire battle. (And that could have been easily avoided -- I was talking to a friend about the game and I got distracted in doing so.) 8.5/10

Oh, btw, total time played for my marathon? =P 4 hours and 17 minutes. And worth every second.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go soak my throbbing hand. XD

Author's Response:

Good job! I'm surprised you were able to get through the first one, its so insanely dated compared to the others now.

As far as lunatic difficulty goes, a lot of small things change to make the game a lot harder overall. In the stages, enemies appear at a much faster rate and their bullets travel at you faster, but their health and movement are unchanged. For bosses, their movement around the screen is usually a lot faster, as well as the delay between attacks. Seven (stage 2) and the Stage 5 boss in particular are much faster and harder on Lunatic compared to Normal.

For Nemor the heart form at the end was just kind of a random idea, I was originally thinking of having the red crystal pop out of his chest and have that as the final boss, but I was sick of drawing triangle shaped space ships so went for something totally random and different (as well as getting a contra reference out of it, the heart beats faster the lower its health is)

For the extra stage, most people haven't noticed that it has no set difficulty, just one mode, so coming from easy it seems impossible, and coming from lunatic it seems easy, since the stage is designed to be around normal/hard mode difficulty, but with a boss with 50 million health

Kingdom of Machines

"The fun element isn't there. An unstructured mess."

date: December 11, 2007

I have to say, this was not fun. I mean, most all the enemies are easy to kill, and when you get to the final boss, I keep dying -- not because he's difficult, but because you made him practically IMMORTAL.

Damn, I make mistakes, not many mind you, but occasionally it was inevitable to run into him (especially since the air around him is for some reason as dangerous as touching him directly), so even though I conservatively used the enemies around the area to recharge my grenades and blasted him constantly, making sure to make the most of my weapon energy, I eventually ran out after about 40 shots, and had to slash away in a corner. I would run off to break open a health crate every now and then too, right before I died so I'd make the most of the health too.

I never missed one of my weapon shots, and I always avoided his shots.

And that blasted Warlord never died.

I don't give bad reviews very often...but dude, this game, while solid in its controls, is terribly simple and badly structured. Try putting the element of 'fun' in it, please. It's not too much to ask for a game, is it?

"Agh!"

submission: Stealth Hunter
date: October 14, 2007

This is an engaging game. I think I just wasted two hours on it. XP I like to use my brain, though I'm not a stealth game expert...

Yeah, I'm on level 19, and I gotta say, it's the first (and probably only level I just don't like. It's a little silly to walk around the guards' lines of sights...if I could SEE their LOS, then that would be okay, but like this? There's just a little too much going on. XP

Otherwise, awesome! We do need a strategy guide though...

"Wow!"

date: October 12, 2007

The music was beatuiful, and the design of the game was creative. =3 Truly epic, which is a lot to say about a Flash game. If only this could be made into a full 3D game, more free-roaming game!

Is a sequel in the works, perhaps? It would be wonderful to explore the other continents in this world.
